This page explains exactly how MrMega tests and rates the casinos and sportsbooks we cover, and, just as importantly, what we do not do. We want you to be able to check our work, so our process is written down and applied the same way every time. We examine operators, we do not gamble with your money
You will see a lot of casino sites claim they “deposited real money and cashed out” at every brand they review. Be honest with yourself about whether that is plausible across hundreds of casinos, and what a single funded session would actually prove. We take a different, more transparent approach: we do not wager our own money to manufacture a win or loss story, because one session proves nothing about how a casino treats thousands of players. Instead we examine the things that genuinely determine whether a site is safe and fair, and we tell you precisely what we checked and when.
What we check on every brand
- Licence verification. We look up the operator on the relevant regulator’s public register (for UK brands, the UK Gambling Commission), confirm the licence number and status, and record the date we checked.
- The actual terms and conditions. We read the published terms, not the marketing, and quote the clauses that matter: withdrawal caps, processing times, bonus wagering, and any fees. We note the date the terms were last checked.
- Who really runs the brand. We map the operator and licensing behind each site, because many “different” casinos share one platform, one licence and one cashier. Comparing brands on the same operator is often meaningless, so we compare operators.
- The cashier. We open an account and inspect the real deposit and withdrawal methods, limits and stated processing times shown inside the logged-in cashier, which is frequently more honest than the homepage.
- The games. We use the site hands-on in demo and free-play mode to judge the library, the providers, load speed and the on-screen RTP information.
- Customer support. We contact support with a genuine question and record how long the reply takes and how useful it is.
- Responsible-gambling tools. We check that deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are present and easy to find, and where we hold an account we set a limit to confirm the tools work.
- Mobile and desktop. We test the site on a phone and a desktop browser for speed, navigation and whether the full feature set is available.
The MrMega Trust Index
Every brand is scored on the MrMega Trust Index, which weights what the checks above reveal: regulatory record and licence tier, transparency of terms, withdrawal conditions, responsible-gambling provision and operator history. The score reflects evidence we can verify, not how generous a bonus looks.
Our original research
Some of what we publish is not available anywhere else because we compiled it ourselves: our operator-network map, our record of verified withdrawal terms taken from operators’ own documents, and findings such as two separately branded sites carrying word-for-word identical withdrawal clauses, which is direct evidence they run on the same operator. This is the kind of first-hand investigative work that distinguishes a genuine review site from reworded marketing.
Editorial independence
MrMega earns commission when a reader signs up with an operator through our links. That funding never changes a Trust Index score, a ranking, or what we choose to criticise. Operators cannot pay to receive favourable coverage, to remove criticism, or to alter their position. Our commercial relationships and our editorial judgements are kept separate, and every page is written by a named author and checked by a named fact-checker.
Keeping reviews current
Licences, terms and cashiers change. We re-check the brands we cover and show a “last examined” date so you can see how fresh a review is. If something material changes, we update the page and the score.
